Ep 103- How to Stop Using Food to Rest- Ashley’s Story

January 29, 2026

Today is a special episode with my client Ashley on how she went from binge eating 3x/week down to 0.

Ashley is a busy mom of 2 as a full time nurse and student. She tried everything. Weight Watchers. Macros. Meal plans. Calorie tracking. She lost weight, gained it back, and felt more confused and exhausted every time.

But after The Confident Eater Program, Ashley went from buying 6 bags of chips a week for her family to just 3. Pizza now lasts her 2 meals. Doritos don’t even taste good to her anymore.

In this episode, you’ll hear…

  • Why calorie and macro tracking didn’t work long term

  • How overeating became Ashley’s way of resting and coping

  • The 1 tool that helped her stop emotional eating

  • How healing her relationship with food improved her digestion and IBS symptoms

  • How much money the program has saved her

Feeling Stuck and Confused Around Food

Before working together, Ashley felt overwhelmed by conflicting nutrition advice. Even when she had a plan, following through felt impossible once life got busy. Macro counting left her hungry, tired, and spending too much time measuring and tracking food. When she could not do it perfectly, she would give up and overeat.

She realized the problem was not discipline. It was the way she thought about food, control, and rest.

Learning to Rest Without Food

One of Ashley’s biggest breakthroughs was recognizing how much she used food as a way to rest. Slowing down felt uncomfortable, so eating became the only time she allowed herself to pause.

Through mindset work, she learned how to rest intentionally without guilt. By telling herself “this is me resting” during non food activities, her brain stopped linking food with relief. As that shifted, the urge to overeat began to calm down.

More Freedom and Less Obsession

As her relationship with food improved, Ashley noticed changes beyond eating. She became kinder to herself, more aware of her thoughts, and less reactive to stress. Her digestion improved, she spent less money on groceries and takeout, and she stopped craving foods she once felt obsessed with.

Most importantly, food stopped taking up so much mental space. She gained back time, energy, and presence with her family.
